OMAHA, Neb. – The UNO baseball team hosted North Dakota State in a doubleheader at Werner Park on Saturday, falling 8-1 and 7-0 to its future conference peer. With the losses, the Mavericks are now 9-22 on the year, while the Bison improve to 22-5 and extend their win streak to 16 games.
In between games of the twinbill, the Mavericks also celebrated Senior Day to honor their nine seniors:

GAME 1 – NORTH DAKOTA STATE 8, NEBRASKA OMAHA 1
In the first game of the day, junior
Connor McCrite accounted for half of UNO's total hits, finishing 2-for-3 at the plate. Reck drove in the only run, plating Donner in the third inning.
NDSU was led by three players with multi-hit games – Wes Satzinger (2-for-3), Zach Wentz (2-for3) and Kyle Kleinendorst (2-for-4). Satzinger scored twice and drove in three, while Wentz added another pair of runs scored. In addition, Kleinendorst scored once and also had an RBI, and Tyler Steen and Michael Leach each had two RBI to their credit.
Luke Anderson (6-0) earned the complete-game win with a four-hitter, allowing one run over seven innings and striking out three. Junior
Matt Tew (1-3) took the loss, surrendering seven runs – five earned – off eight hits. Tew struck out five and walked one over six innings of work.
North Dakota State struck early, opening the game with a four-run first inning to go up 4-0. UNO tallied its only run in the bottom of the third, when Donner led off with a triple to right and scored on Reck's RBI groundout, making it 4-1.
NDSU added three runs in the sixth and another in the seventh, leaving the final score at 8-1.
GAME 2 – NORTH DAKOTA STATE 7, NEBRASKA OMAHA 0
Bryant Larson captured the win in the second game, limiting the Mavericks to three hits over six innings while striking out three and walking three. Sophomore
Josh Bullock (0-3) was the losing pitcher, with NDSU scoring one unearned run on four hits during his outing. Over five innings of work, Bullock fanned three and issued two walks.
Wentz starred for the Bison, going 4-for-5 with a run scored and two more driven in. Nick Anderson also had two RBI, and Max Casper pushed one across while scoring twice himself.

Alex Mortensen each chipped in a single apiece.
After a quiet first four innings with just three hits, NDSU posted one run in the fifth. Casper reached on an error and advanced to second, then moved to third on a wild pitch. He came in on Colwell's RBI groundout, spotting North Dakota State a 1-0 lead. The Bison followed with four in the sixth and another two scores in the ninth, capping the game at 7-0.
UNO returns to action on Sunday, April 8 for the series finale with NDSU. First pitch is set for Noon at the Ballpark at Boys Town.
