OMAHA, Neb. – Ferris State's Mike Embach's goal in the third period proved to be the difference as the Bulldogs defeated the Mavericks 3-2 Friday night at the Qwest Center Omaha.
Ferris State opened the scoring in the first frame with a goal by Aaron Lewicki off a pass from Justin Lewandowski and Scott Wietecha.
The Mavericks answered back in the second period with a pair of power play goals. With a two-man advantage, #Tomas Klempa beat goalkeeper Taylor Nelson to tie the game at one apiece. Assists were awarded to Dan Charleston and John Kemp#. Just 49 seconds later, UNO took a 2-1 lead on a #Nick Von Bokern# goal at 10:21 in the second frame.
The Bulldogs tied things up at two each heading into the third period with a Nate Henning power play goal from Scott Wietecha.
At the 8:07 mark in the third, Embach beat goaltender #Jeremie Dupont# for the game-winner.
UNO falls to 6-2-1 overall and 2-2-1-1 in CCHA play, while Ferris State improves to 5-3-3 and 4-1-2-0 in the CCHA.
The Mavericks will wrap-up their series with Ferris State on Saturday at 7:05 p.m. at the Qwest Center.
