OMAHA, Neb. – Former Omaha hockey Menke Family Co-Captain and goaltender Simon Latkoczy has signed with the Greenville Swamp Rabbits of the ECHL, the team announced Wednesday.

Over his four years as a Maverick, Latkcozy was recognized as one of the top goaltenders in the National Collegiate Hockey Conference.

During the 2024-25 campaign, Latkoczy became the first Maverick to earn NCHC Goaltender of the Year honors. He was also named First Team All-NCHC, earned NCHC Goaltender of the Month recognition for January, and was a four-time NCHC Goaltender of the Week selection. 

Additionally, he was named the 2024 Ice Breaker Tournament's Most Outstanding Player and earned his second career NCHC Academic All-Conference honor.

This past season, Latkoczy, Omaha's nominee for the 2026 Hobey Baker Memorial Award, made his 100th career appearance on Jan. 24 against Colorado College at Baxter Arena. 

He became the fifth active Division I goaltender to reach the milestone, the fourth to do so at a single institution and the third active NCHC goaltender with at least 100 games played.

In that appearance, he made 32 saves while posting a 2.07 goals-against average and a .941 save percentage. Following the performance, Latkoczy was named KJ Branding NCHC Goaltender of the Week for the second time during the 2025-26 season.

Over his four-year career with Omaha, he made 110 appearances and recorded 3,067 saves.

"Simon was a tremendous player and leader for our program," said head coach Mike Gabinet. "He was foundational in helping us reach the NCAA tournament, playing in the NCHC championship game, and being recognized as a top goalie in our conference. We are excited for him turning pro and I know he will do great things."
