Broadhurst Signs With Blackhawks

OMAHA, Neb. – UNO head hockey coach Dean Blais announced today that junior left wing Terry Broadhurst has signed a professional contract with the Chicago Blackhawks of the National Hockey League, foregoing his senior season with the Mavericks.

“Terry has exceled in his three seasons at UNO, and he is someone who has always had high expectations,” said Blais.  “It has been his aspiration to play in the NHL, and this is a step toward that goal.  We wish him the best.”

Broadhurst was UNO's second-leading scorer during the 2011-12 season with 16 goals and 20 assists for 36 points.  His goal and assist totals also ranked second best on the team.  The native of Orland Park, Ill. led the team with seven powerplay goals and ranked second with three game winners.  He was one of six players to appear in all 38 games.  He also served as team captain.

Broadhurst was on pace to finish his career in the top 10 in scoring at UNO.  He finishes his UNO career with 90 points on 40 goals and 50 assists to rank 16th all-time.  

He is expected to join the Rockford IceHogs, Chicago's American Hockey League affiliate in Rockford, Ill.
