FAIRBANKS, Alaska – The Alaska Anchorage Seawolves erupted for three goals in the second period and hung on for a 3-0 win over the UNO Mavericks on Friday night in the first round of the Brice Alaska Goal Rush.

The Mavericks conclude the tournament on Saturday night when they take on host and former CCHA rival Alaska at 10:05 p.m. CT.

The game was scoreless for almost the first 30 minutes of the game before the Seawolves broke the deadlock.  Mark Pustin got free down the left wing and whipped a shot just under the crossbar for his second goal of the year.

The Seawolves stretched their lead at 14:44 when Quinn Sproule fired a shot from the right point that banked in off the post past goalie John Faulkner who was screened.

Just 40 seconds later, UAA's lead was 3-0.  Matt Bailey barreled down the right wing and lifted a sharp-angle shot over Faulkner's shoulder.  That goal spelled the end of the night for Faulkner who was lifted in favor of freshman Ryan Massa who was making his collegiate debut.

Massa finished the game with 14 saves.  Faulkner suffered the loss with 18 saves.
