Omaha Hockey welcomes Josh Robinson, Director of Player Personnel and Video

OMAHA, Neb. – Omaha Hockey head coach Mike Gabinet announced the addition of Josh Robinson to the Mavericks' coaching staff as the Director of Player Personnel and Video.

Robinson arrives in Omaha following eight seasons as a goaltending and video coach in professional hockey, including stops in the ECHL and Germany's Deutsche Eishockey Liga (DEL).

Most recently, he served as director of hockey operations at Cornell after joining the Big Red in August 2025.

"We're excited to welcome Josh Robinson to our program," Gabinet said. "He brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to our staff and will be a tremendous addition to our team. Josh has worked with successful programs and has a strong reputation for his work ethic, professionalism and commitment to student-athlete development. We're looking forward to the positive impact he'll have on our staff and our players."

Before arriving at Cornell, Robinson spent three seasons in Germany's top professional league, serving as goaltending and video coach for Löwen Frankfurt and the Schwenninger Wild Wings. In those roles, he worked closely with professional goaltenders while also assisting with player development at multiple youth levels. His responsibilities included video analysis, pre-scout preparation, live game tagging and postgame breakdowns.

Prior to coaching overseas, Robinson spent five seasons in the ECHL, including four years with the Florida Everblades from 2017-21. During his tenure, the Everblades captured Brabham Cup regular-season championships in 2018 and 2021, while goaltender Jake Hildebrand earned the ECHL Goaltender of the Year award in 2021 under Robinson's guidance. Robinson also served as the goaltending and video coach for the Kansas City Mavericks during the 2021-22 season.

"I am very excited to join Mike and his staff in Omaha," Robinson said. "The combination of a really strong league, facilities, city and the culture that has been put together make it a very attractive spot to be. I look forward to getting the season started."

A native of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Robinson played four seasons at Michigan Tech, appearing in 90 career games for the Huskies. Following graduation with a bachelor's degree in business administration with a concentration in marketing, he played professionally for six seasons in the American Hockey League, ECHL, Hungary and Norway. Among the highlights of his playing career were a 27-win season with the Idaho Steelheads in 2012-13 and a 28-win campaign with the Missouri Mavericks in 2015-16.
