EMPORIA, Kan. - #Kristin Wellwood# hit two game-winning home runs to help Nebraska-Omaha to a pair of wins Friday in the final day of the MIAA Southern Crossover hosted by Emporia State.

The Mavericks, winners of five straight, will next play at Wayne State (Neb.) Wednesday in a 2 p.m. doubleheader before playing what will be their MIAA and home openers next Friday and Saturday.

With the score tied, 2-2 in the fifth inning against the Lady Blues, Wellwood hit a three-run blast to drive in #Treightin Yates and Julia Krecji#. #Beth Haley# then entered the game in the top of the fifth and held Washburn scoreless the final three innings to earn her first save of the year.

The Mavericks got on the board in the second inning when #Kristi Meneely# drove in a run and and then later scored on a wild pitch.

#Melissa Negrete# earned the win. She allowed one earned run in four innings with two strikeouts.

Two home runs in the seventh inning against Fort Hays State broke a tie and led UNO to a win. Wellwood hit the first, a solo shot and then #Lindsey Slocum# followed with another solo homer.

Slocum started the game in the circle and allowed the two tying runs through 5 1/3 innings. Haley then entered the game and shut down the Tigers to get the win.

#Alli Hukill# drove in a run in the second inning and then she scored in the fourth off a single from Yates.
