OMAHA, Neb. –– Omaha Softball right-handed pitcher
Alexis Wiggins was named the Kwik Star Summit League Peak Pitcher of the Week for the first time, it was announced Tuesday. The senior from Adams, Nebraska pitched eight innings of shutout softball in a pair of victories against Kansas City as Omaha swept the Roos a clean 27-0 over three games.
Wiggins, in her second season as a Maverick, allowed just three hits in 28 batters faced last weekend, including holding the Roos' leadoff hitter to just one hit in eight matchups.
She struckout four while inducing 13 flyouts in windy conditions last weekend as the Mavericks (24-7) propelled themselves to a 6-0 start to league play.
On the season, Wiggins leads Omaha with a 10-1 record. She has one save and one shutout in three complete games pitched.
