LOUISVILLE, Ky. –– Five Omaha Softball student-athletes earned National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Midwest All-Region honors, it was revealed Thursday.
Left-handed pitcher Maddia Groff was named to the First Team All-Midwest Region, center fielder Marra Cramer was named to the Second Team and the trio of second baseman Katherine Johnson, shortstop Taylor Sedlacek and third baseman Bailey Sample were named Third Team All-Midwest Region.
The five honorees marks the most All-Region honors the Mavericks have earned in head coach Mike Heard's tenure.
Groff, the back-to-back Summit League Pitcher of the Year, finished her season fourth in the nation in strikeout-to-walk ratio (5.71), leading the Summit League. With the 31st most innings pitched (170.0), Groff struck out 200 batters, good for 14th in the nation out of 149 ranked pitchers. The Omaha native finished top 40 in DI in complete games (15), earned run average (2.10) and shutouts (4). The First Team All-Summit League honoree is 10th among all active Division I pitchers in career strikeouts (695), the only junior in the top 10. Among all juniors across the three NCAA divisions, Groff is first in career strikeouts.
Cramer, the first outfielder to earn the Summit League's Defensive Player of the Year honor, ranked third in the conference with 14 doubles and belted 11 homers, the eighth most in the league. The Liberty, Missouri native was one of two Mavericks (Sammy Schmidt) to post a slugging percentage of .680, tied for seventh in the Summit. With a .353 batting average good for third on this year's Maverick squad, Cramer logged 43 RBI (third) and 53 hits, only behind Sample. She totaled 15 multi-hit games in 2026. She finished the season with Omaha's longest active hitting streak (four games).
Making an appearance on the Third Team is Johnson, who started all 49 games at second base this season. In her second year with Omaha, Johnson tallied an OPS of .987 and had the Mavericks' longest hitting streak of the campaign, tallying at least a hit in 13 straight outings. Her 16 multi-RBI games led Omaha as she finished with 49 RBI, one behind Sedlacek's team-best 50.
A newcomer to Omaha this season, Sedlacek paced the Mavericks in walks (40), slugging percentage (.743), runs scored (52) and RBI (50). Her 18 home runs were the most by a Maverick since Amber Lutmer had 17 in 2014. The Bennington native had 14 multi-RBI games, including a team-leading three games of five or more RBI.
Rounding out the Maverick All-Region honorees is Sample, also a first-year with Omaha. The mainstay at third base finished her year top 100 in Division I in batting average (.415) and paced the Mavericks with 61 hits. Her 34 RBI over the course of 49 games rounded out the team's top five this season. Sample's 12 doubles were second only behind Cramer's 14. Sample totaled 94 bases.
