OMAHA, Neb.  –– Omaha softball head coach Mike Heard announced Tuesday the promotion of longtime assistant Jen Brauer to associate head coach.

"I'm thrilled to announce Jen Brauer's promotion to associate head coach," said Heard. "Jen has been an integral part of our program from day one of my time at Omaha. She understands the culture we've worked to build, leads by example every day and has earned the respect of our student-athletes and staff through her dedication, work ethic and commitment to developing young women on and off the field.

Heard continued, "This promotion is a reflection of everything she has meant to our program and I'm excited to see her continue making an even greater impact as we build on the momentum of Omaha softball."

Brauer, who joined the staff in September 2021, has been a driving force behind the program's meteoric rise among mid-major peers nationally as the program captured three straight conference tournament champions from 2023-25. The Mavericks won at least a share of the Summit League regular-season title in the past two seasons (2025 and 2026).

With Brauer on staff, Omaha softball has won at least one NCAA tournament game in each of the program's three postseason appearances, including advancing to the Columbia Regional final in 2024.

In all five seasons of Brauer's time with Heard, Omaha has advanced to the conference championship game.

Maverick student-athletes have collected nearly 40 all-league honors in her tenure, including three Summit League pitchers of the year and three Summit League defensive players of the year. 13 student-athletes have gone on to earn NFCA All-Region honors.

Omaha's 72 home runs in 2026 are second all-time at UNO.

Brauer, an Omaha native, was a four-year starter at crosstown rival Creighton and currently resides in the Metro with her husband, Sam.
