OMAHA, Neb. – The UNO hockey team erupted for three goals in a span of 1:27 of the second period to blow open a tie game and beat the Northern Michigan Wildcats, 7-2 on Friday night at the Qwest Center.  #Rich Purslow and Jeric Agosta# each had two goals, and #Brandon Richardson# had a goal and three assists.

UNO improves to 11-11-5 on the year and 7-10-2-1 in the Central Collegiate Hockey Association.  With the win, the Mavericks move up to eighth place in the standings, one point ahead of Northern Michigan.  The two teams will meet again on Saturday night at the Qwest Center.  Game time is 7:05 p.m.

The Mavericks set a new school record for fastest three goals, breaking the old mark of 2:03 set on Oct. 25, 2008 against Mercyhurst.  Richardson's four-point game was the best for the Mavericks this season.

With the game tied at two midway through the middle period, freshman #Terry Broadhurst# sprinted down the right wing and beat goalie Brian Stewart with a hard shot for his fourth goal of the year.

Just 25 seconds later, #Dan Swanson# slipped free from defenseman Erik Gustafsson, stepped out in front of the Northern Michigan net and threw a wrist shot past Stewart to make it 4-2.

Purslow completed the onslaught at 12:14 when he knocked in the rebound of a shot by #Alex Hudson# for his second goal of the game.

UNO had built two one-goal leads in the game only to see the Wildcats tie it each time.  Agosta opened the scoring with his tenth goal of the year, beating Stewart through traffic.

After Justin Florek answered with a powerplay goal for the Wildcats, Purslow restored the one-goal lead with a powerplay goal that put UNO up 2-1 after one.

Andrew Cherniwchan scored a powerplay goal at 3:19 of the second period to set up UNO's outburst later in the stanza.

Richardson added his goal off a netmouth scramble early in the third and Agosta completed the scoring when he hit an empty net after Richardson had forced a giveaway by backup goalie Reid Ellingson.

#Jeremie Dupont# made 22 saves for his third win of the year.  Stewart allowed five goals on 25 shots and took the loss.  Ellingson allowed two goals on ten shots in relief.
