OMAHA, NE – The highest levels of junior and college hockey will be showcased in Omaha on Saturday, Feb. 13 as the Omaha Lancers and the University of Nebraska at Omaha Mavericks host the inaugural “Hockey Night in Omaha,” presented by First National Bank.
The two teams have coordinated their schedules and will play back-to-back home games on that day, giving hockey fans in the greater Omaha area a chance to see games between each team and a long-time rival in their leagues. The Lancers will kick off the event by hosting the Chicago Steel in United States Hockey League action. Face off is 4:05 p.m. at the Omaha Civic Auditorium. The evening concludes with a Central Collegiate Hockey Association battle between the Mavericks and the Michigan Wolverines. The game begins at 7:05 p.m. at Qwest Center Omaha.
“Scheduling these games to complement each other is just one part of a new tradition,” said Ben Robert, President and Managing Partner of the Omaha Lancers. “We hope to make this a yearly event where people can come see great hockey at an affordable price.”
“Omaha has a rich hockey history and a long tradition of outstanding fan support,” said #Trev Alberts#, Director of Athletics for UNO. “As stewards of that history, we want to recognize all hockey fans and invite new fans to experience all that this great sport has to offer.”
The “Hockey Night in Omaha” ticket package includes a ticket to both games, complementary shuttle service from both the Civic and the Qwest Center and a picnic meal at Farrell's Elite Sports Bar. Packages may be purchased for $25 by calling (402) 344-PUCK or (402) 554-MAVS.
Both the Lancers and the Mavericks will wear special jerseys designed for Hockey Night in Omaha, courtesy of First National Bank.
