BOLIVAR, Mo. – The UNO softball team won in both a blowout and a defensive battle, stopping the Southwest Baptist Bearcats 12-0 and 2-1 in a doubleheader on Friday afternoon.  With the wins, the Mavericks improve to 38-11 on the season and 12-4 in the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association.

The Mavs return to action on Saturday when they square off with Central Missouri in a doubleheader in Warrensburg, Mo. beginning at 1 p.m.

Game 1

The Mavericks built a 4-0 lead after three innings and then tacked on six more runs in the seventh to win 12-0 in the first game of the afternoon.  #Kristi Meneely and Treightin Yates each drove in two runs while Kristin Wellwood# went 2-for-3 and scored two runs.

Already leading 1-0 after two, the Mavericks drove in three more in the third.  #Amanda Bader# doubled to score Yates who had walked at the top of the inning.  #Lindsey Slocum then hit a sacrifice fly that scored Molly Feichtinger# and Bader followed her in after a throwing error.

The Mavs started the seventh with a bang as pinch hitter #Julia Krejci# homered.  Meneely later had a two-run single, #Ashley Lynch# drove in another run with a single, and Yates finished the scoring with a two-RBI double.

#Melissa Negrete# picked up the win to improve to 15-5.  She worked all seven innings, allowing only two hits and striking out three.

Game 2

Slocum won a pitchers' duel in the nightcap, holding the Bearcats to just two hits in a 2-1 victory for UNO.

The Mavericks scored single runs in the third and fourth to take a 2-0 lead.  Slocum helped her own cause with an RBI single in the third.

Yates drove in the second run in the fourth when she tripled to score Wellwood.

The Bearcats got one back in the bottom of the seventh.  Katrina Munoz reached on an error, stole second and scored on a single by BreAnn Proctor.  But Proctor was stranded when Slocum got Taressa Gomez out on an infield pop-up.

Slocum struck out five and did not walk a batter while improving to 13-2 on the season.
