OMAHA, Neb. - Sophomore #
Joey Martin# had two goals and an assist to lead the UNO hockey team to a 5-2 win over the Ferris State Bulldogs on Saturday night at Qwest Center Omaha. The win gave the Mavericks a 2-0 sweep of their first round series in the Central Collegiate Hockey Association Playoffs. The Mavericks rode the strength of a three-goal second period to advance to the second round for the fifth straight season.
UNO now advances to the second round next weekend against second-ranked Notre Dame. The Mavericks will travel to South Bend, Ind., Mar. 14-16, to square off in a best-of-three series against the Fighting Irish at the Joyce Center.

Ferris State broke a goal-scoring drought of more than four periods on the weekend when Brendan Connolly batted home his ninth goal of the year, but Martin restored the three-goal lead before intermission when he scored at 15:04 to make it 4-1 after two.
