This Week: The 11th/12th-ranked UNO hockey team returns home to host the Lake Superior State Lakers in a two-game Central Collegiate Hockey Association series on Friday and Saturday, Nov. 13 and 14. Friday's game begins at 7:35 p.m. and Saturday's action starts at 7:05 p.m. at Qwest Center Omaha.
Last Week: The Mavericks lost their first game of the season last Thursday, 3-0 at Michigan State. They rebounded the next night, skating to a 3-3 tie with the Spartans before earning a 2-1 win in the shootout.

Joey Martin scored goals for UNO while
John Kemp and
Terry Broadhurst tallied in the shootout.
Jeremie Dupont made 22 saves to pick up the tie on Friday. He had three saves on four shots in the shootout.
The Records: The Mavericks are 4-1-3 this season and 1-1-2-1 in the CCHA. They are in a three-way tie for sixth place with Ferris State and Michigan. The Lakers are 4-5-1 overall and 1-4-1-0 in the league. They're coming off a shootout loss and a regulation loss at Western Michigan last weekend.
The Series: UNO is 13-6-5 all-time against the Lakers and 8-3-3 all-time at home. Last season, the Mavericks swept a pair of games from LSSU, winning 3-2 and 2-1 at Taffy Abel Arena in Sault Ste. Marie, Mich. Those wins snapped a five-game winless streak for UNO against Lake Superior.
The Coaches: The 2009-2010 season marks a new era for Nebraska-Omaha as #
Dean Blais# takes over as the head coach.
Mike Kemp, the only coach in the program's history, was promoted to Associate Athletic Director in May of 2009. Blais brings an impressive resume to Omaha. He led the University of North Dakota to national titles in 1997 and 2000. He won five WCHA regular season titles with UND and two playoff championships. He is a two-time winner of the Spencer Penrose Memorial Award given to Division I hockey's top coach. The native of International Falls, Minn. has a career record of 266-116-36. Blais is assisted by former Omaha Lancer head coach and first-year associate head coach Mike Hastings and third-year assistant coach Nick Fohr.
Jim Roque is in his fifth season as head coach at Lake Superior State, having compiled a record of 61-88-26 in that time. He is a 1987 graduate of LSSU.
