Box Score BIG RAPIDS, Mich. – The Ferris State University Bulldog handed the University of Nebraska at Omaha hockey team its worse loss of the season Friday night, besting the Mavericks 7-1 in Central Collegiate Hockey Association action at the Robert Ewigleben Ice Arena.

Things looked promising in the first as the Mavericks jumped out to an early one-goal lead on a #Nick Von Bokern# power-play score 4:23 into the period. But the Bulldogs came right back and answered with a power-play marker of their own at 9:30 to send the game into the first intermission knotted at one.

Ferris State didn't trail again and wasted little time in the second in putting some distance between themselves and the Mavs, grabbing a 2-1 lead at 4:16. FSU pushed its lead to two-goals on a shorthanded marker at 16:28 of the period and took a 3-1 lead after two.

The Bulldogs put the Mavs away in the third, dominating the period and scoring four more goals to drive the final score to 7-1.

The Mavs are now winless in the last five games and fall to 13-10-5 on the season and 8-8-5-3 in CCHA play.

The Mavericks and Bulldogs will wrap up their two-game series tomorrow, Jan. 31, with a 6:05 p.m. CST at the Ewigleben Ice Arena. The game can be heard live on 1290 AM KKAR.
