OMAHA, Neb. - The University of Nebraska at Omaha scored all of its goals on the powerplay to cruise past American International College 4-1 in the first round of the Mutual of Omaha Stampede.  #Dan Charleston and Rich Purslow# each had a goal and two assists in the Mavericks' first win of the regular season.

The Hornets of AIC opened the scoring just 1:19 into the game when Mike Little ripped a slap shot over the right shoulder of Mavs' goalie #Jeremie Dupont#.  It would be the last time Dupont was beaten in the game.

With the graduation of three key members of the nation's leading powerplay unit last season, the Mavericks weren't sure how well they'd do on the man-advantage.  That question was answered late in the first period when #Alain Goulet# blew a shot through the five-hole of AIC goalie Dan Ramirez.  Charleston and Purslow picked up their first assists.

Midway through the second period, the Mavs doubled their lead when #Joey Martin scooped up the rebound of a shot by Nick Von Bokern# and beat a sprawling Ramirez to make it 2-1 after two.

Purslow gave UNO some much needed insurance when he tallied on the powerplay at 12:39 of the third, finishing off a rush with Charleston and #Eddie DelGrosso#.

Charleston finished the scoring with just 21 seconds remaining in the game, converting a feed from Purslow with a backhander from the crease.

The Mavericks went 4 for 8 on the powerplay in the game and had a 42-17 shots-on-goal advantage.  That included an 18-2 margin in the third.  Dupont picked up the win with 16 saves.

The Mavericks move on to the championship game on Saturday night at 7:05 p.m. as they face Union College.  The Dutchmen advanced to the finals with a 6-5 overtime win over Quinnipiac University in the early game.  Quinnipiac and AIC will face-off in the consolation game at 4:05 p.m. on Saturday.
