OMAHA, Neb. – (8) Omaha Hockey (12-22-0, 8-16-0 NCHC) heads to Grand Forks, N.D. to face (1) North Dakota (25-8-1, 17-6-1 NCHC) at Ralph Engelstad Arena in the National Collegiate Hockey Conference Frozen Faceoff.
Game one will be played at 7 p.m. CT on Friday, March 6, followed by game two on Saturday, March 7 at 6 p.m. CT. If necessary, game three will be played on Sunday, March 8 at 6 p.m. CT. Fans can listen live on 1290 KOIL or the Varsity Network, with games streaming on NCHC.tv.
(8) Omaha is coming off a series split in its regular-season finale against (RV) Miami (Ohio) at Baxter Arena on Kemp Ice.
On Friday, Feb. 27, the Mavericks earned a 5-3 victory as seniors powered the offense in their final regular-season weekend at Baxter Arena, scoring four of (8) Omaha's five goals.
Senior
Cameron Mitchell (Stony Plain, Alberta, Canada) opened the scoring at 18:16 of the first period, and senior
Tyler Rollwagen (Bloomington, Minn.) doubled the lead at 6:15. The RedHawks responded with two goals to tie the game before
Brett Hyland (Edmonton, Alberta, Canada) restored the Mavericks advantage, making it 3-2.
Senior Jacob Guevin (Drummondville, Quebec, Canada) extended the Omaha's lead early in the third period, and senior
Jacob Slipec (White Rock, British Columbia, Canada) sealed the win with eight seconds remaining.
In game two on Feb. 28
Marcus Nguyen (Calgary, Alberta, Canada) and
Myles Hilman (Sylvan Lake, Alberta, Canada) kept the Mavericks within striking distance, but Omaha fell 4-2. Nguyen scored his team-leading 11th goal of the 2025-26 season and has tallied three goals over his last four games.
Following the final regular-season series, freshman forward Jérémy Loranger (Trois-Rivières, Quebec, Canada) was named the National Collegiate Hockey Conference Rookie of the Month for February, the league announced Tuesday. The honor marks the first of Loranger's career after he led all NCHC freshmen in scoring during the month.
Loranger opened February with a goal on Feb. 14 against then-No. 8 Denver and added two goals in a series at Arizona State, scoring in three consecutive games. On Feb. 21, he factored into all three Maverick goals with one goal and two assists. He closed the month with two assists against (RV) Miami (Ohio) on Feb. 27, finishing February with seven points on three goals and four assists in five games.
Heading into the postseason,
Maxime Pellerin (Victoriaville, Quebec, Canada) leads the Mavericks with 20 points (8G, 12A), while
Trevor Wong (Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada) and
Luke Woodworth (Bridgewater, Nova Scotia, Canada) 4G, 15A) follow with 19 points.
Over his last 10 games, Wong has totaled 12 points on two goals and 10 assists, highlighted by a three-point night with two goals and an assist against then-(RV) Colorado College on Jan. 23.
Goaltender and senior co-captain
Simon Latkoczy (Trenčín, Slovakia), (8) Omaha's nominee for the 2026 Hobey Baker Memorial Award and a two-time KJ Branding NCHC Goaltender of the Week this season, recorded 28 saves during his final regular-season series against the RedHawks.
During the 2025-26 season, Latkoczy has appeared in 23 games, totaling 626 saves with a 3.23 goals-against average and a .899 save percentage.
