SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Omaha Baseball senior infielder
Chase Diggins has been named to the Brooks Wallace Award Watch List, the College Baseball Foundation announced Wednesday.
The award honors the nation's top shortstop and is named for former Texas Tech shortstop Brooks Wallace, who played for the Red Raiders from 1977-80 before passing away from leukemia at age 27.
Through 10 games this season, Diggins has tallied 14 hits and five RBI while batting .318.
Omaha will compete in the Gopher Tournament from March 6-8. The Mavericks open tournament play against Southern Illinois on Friday at 3 p.m., followed by a 3 p.m. matchup against Northwestern on Saturday. Omaha closes the weekend against Minnesota on Sunday at 6 p.m.
