OMAHA, Neb. - Omaha Softball (17-7) has been ranked third in the week six D1 Softball Mid-Major Rankings, it was revealed Monday. The Mavericks begin the home slate at
Connie Claussen Field coming off of a 3-1 weekend in St. George, Utah at the Trailblazer Classic, which included a five-inning no-hitter over BYU.
The Mavericks, currently top 75 in the RPI, welcome the North Dakota State Bison to Maverick Park on Friday, March 20 at 2 p.m. CT to start a three-game series kicking off Summit League play. NDSU is currently 16-13.
Sammy Schmidt recorded at least four RBI in each of the two days of the Trailblazer Classic. The Hastings, Nebraska native leads Omaha with a .417 average and is fourth on the Mavericks with 21 RBI in 22 games played.
Taylor Sedlacek leads Omaha with nine home runs, adding a pair this past weekend to her total.
Grand Canyon and Texas State were the two teams to rank ahead of Omaha in the week six rankings.
