OMAHA, Neb. – Omaha Baseball (4-10) opens its home schedule and Summit League play this weekend, hosting defending Summit League champion North Dakota State (2-14) from March 13–14 at Tal Anderson Field in Omaha, Neb. First pitch is set for 4 p.m. CT on Friday, while Saturday's doubleheader begins at 1 p.m. CT. The Mavericks return to Tal Anderson Monday afternoon against Maine, with first pitch scheduled for 4 p.m. CT. All four games will stream on the Summit League Network.
Heading into the weekend, several Mavericks sit atop the Summit League leaderboard.
Omaha brings plenty of offensive firepower, led by
Jackson Trout, who paces the Mavericks with a .455 batting average, 25 hits and 11 RBI.
Trout leads the Summit League in batting average, slugging percentage, on-base percentage, OPS, hits and doubles, while also ranking among the top 30 nationally in batting average.
Through 13 games,
Tyler Bishop has recorded 12 hits, including two doubles, two triples and a home run, while driving in 10 runs. Bishop's two triples lead the conference.
Chase Diggins has also been a steady contributor at the plate, with 16 hits and seven RBI, adding three doubles across 13 games this season.
On the mound, right-hander
Nate Moquin also leads the Summit League with three saves this season, while right-hander
Maddox Meyer, the Summit League Kwik Star Peak Pitcher of the Week on Feb. 24, was also named to the Pitcher of the Year Award Watch List, the College Baseball Foundation announced Wednesday, March 11.
Through four appearances this season, Meyer holds a 4.40 ERA across 14.1 innings pitched with 15 strikeouts, highlighted by a dominant outing on Feb. 17 in which he struck out 10 batters over six scoreless innings to earn the win.
Omaha makes the short trip to Creighton on March 18 for a 6 p.m. CT first pitch, followed by a home series from March 20-22 at Tal Anderson Field against Northern Colorado.
