OMAHA, Neb. – Omaha Hockey (8-14-0, 4-8-0 NCHC) travels to Oxford, Ohio, to face (RV) Miami (Ohio) (12-8-2, 3-7-2 NCHC) from Jan. 16-17 at the Goggin Ice Center. Fans can listen live on 1290 KOIL or the Varsity Network, with both games streaming on NCHC.tv.
The Mavericks returned to Baxter Arena on Jan. 9 for the first home series since Nov. 22 and split the series with (RV) St. Cloud State.
Omaha stormed back Friday night after an early 2–0 deficit, erupting for six unanswered goals from six different players to claim a 6–2 weekend-opening victory.
Freshman goaltender Dawson Cowan (Warren, Manitoba, Canada) was flawless over the final 49 minutes, shutting out the Huskies after the opening period, finishing with 28 saves. Through 11 appearances, Cowan has totaled 313 saves with a 2.95 goals-against average and a .907 save percentage.
The Mavericks have scored four or more goals in four of their last six games, piling up 19 goals over that span.
Senior forward Samuel Huo (Richmond, British Columbia, Canada) tallied three points on the weekend, recording a goal and an assist Friday before scoring the Mavericks' lone goal Saturday in Omaha's 2-1 loss against (RV) St. Cloud State.
Sophomore forward Maxime Pellerin (Victoriaville, Quebec, Canada) continues to pace the Mavericks offensively, opening the scoring Friday night while adding two assists. Pellerin leads Omaha with seven goals and 15 points, while freshman Luke Woodworth (Bridgewater, Nova Scotia, Canada) follows with 14 points (3G, 11A).
(RV) Miami (Ohio) welcomes Omaha after a series split with Arizona State. The RedHawks defeated Arizona State 2-1 in overtime on Friday and fell 1-0 on Saturday.
Omaha and (RV) Miami (Ohio) last met in Oxford during the 2024 season when the Mavericks swept the RedHawks with a 3-1 win in the series opener followed by a 4-1 victory the following day.
Omaha returns home, hosting Colorado College from Jan. 23-24 at Baxter Arena on Kemp Ice. Both games will stream on NCHC.tv, with radio coverage available on 1290 KOIL and the Varsity Network.
