Mavericks battle for tourney seeding in regular season finale

FARGO, ND - The Omaha Mavericks are in a tight battle with three other teams heading into the final day of the regular season, with seeding in the middle of the Summit League Championship women's basketball bracket up for grabs.

Omaha (13-15, 5-10) has surged down the stretch, winning three straight games and four of their last five to position themselves for a seed as high as fifth in the tournament, scheduled for March 5-9 at the Denny Sanford PREMIER Center in Sioux Falls. 

With their 76-70 win Thursday night at North Dakota, the Mavericks stand in a tie with South Dakota and UND for sixth place, 1/2 game back of Kansas City in fifth. Seeds one through four (SDSU, Oral Roberts, North Dakota State, St. Thomas) are secured, with Denver lodged firmly in 9th place. 

Here is a breakdown of the scenarios and tiebreakers  heading into Saturday's final day of regular season action. Omaha visits NDSU (10-5, 18-10) at 1:00 p.m. CT. South Dakota (5-10, 11-18)  is at Denver (1-14, 8-20) at 1:00 p.m. CT. North Dakota (5-10, 10-18) is at Kansas City (6-9, 20-10) at 1:00 p.m. CT. South Dakota State (15-0, 25-3) at St. Thomas (9-6, 17-11) at 2:00 p.m. CT will have no bearing on the final seeding. Oral Roberts (12-4, 22-7) is idle.
