OMAHA, Neb. – Omaha Hockey (7-11-0, 3-7-0 NCHC) welcomes Manitoba (6-10-0) for an exhibition game on Dec. 30 at Baxter Arena on Kemp Ice. Fans can listen live on 1290 KOIL or the Varsity Network. Tuesday's game will stream on NCHC.tv.
Heading into the exhibition game against the Bison, Omaha is coming off a 4-1 road victory against (RV) Augustana on Dec. 20 to split the series with the Vikings.
The Mavericks scored eight goals over the weekend, with
Brett Hyland, Jérémy Loranger and
Marcus Nguyen each tallying two apiece.
The contest marked Loranger's 10th game of the season, as he recorded the first two goals of his Maverick career. He scored at the 8:44 mark of the second period to give Omaha its third goal of the night before adding his second at 7:11 of the third to make it 4-0.
Through 18 games, 19 of 26 different Mavericks have found the back of the net, with three scoring five or more goals.
Luke Woodworth leads Omaha with 13 points (3G, 10A), while
Maxime Pellerin follows with 12 points (6G, 6A).
Freshman goaltender
Dawson Cowan (Warren, Manitoba, Canada) played his third straight game Saturday and seventh of the season, making a total of 59 saves.
Cowan has recorded 20 or more saves in all seven appearances with a season-high of 36 saves and owns a 2.90 goals-against average and a .912 save percentage.
Omaha Hockey hits the road to ring in 2026 on Jan. 2-3, facing No. 17 Cornell at Lynah Rink in Ithaca, N.Y. Both games will stream on ESPN+, with radio coverage available on 1290 KOIL and the Varsity Network.
