Hockey faces (RV) Augustana in non-conference series

OMAHA, Neb. – Omaha Hockey (6-10-0, 3-7-0 NCHC) heads to Sioux Falls, S.D. for a non-conference faceoff against (RV) Augustana (9-5-3, 6-4-2 CCHA) from Dec. 19-20 at Midco Arena. The games will be streamed on Midco Sports Plus and fans can listen live on 1290 KOIL or the Varsity Network.

During the 2024-25 season, Omaha has competed in 14 ranked matchups, collecting five ranked victories this season, including a 2-0 road shutout of then-No. 3 Minnesota-Duluth on Nov. 15 to split the series with the Bulldogs. The win marked the Mavericks' first shutout of the 2025-26 campaign.

This past weekend in Grand Forks, N.D. the Mavericks competed at Ralph Engelstad Arena, falling to No. 4 North Dakota in both games.

On Friday night, 5:59 into the second period sophomore forward Trevor Wong (Vancouver British Columbia, Canada) scored his first goal as a Mav assisted by sophomore forward Maxime Pellerin (Victoriaville, Quebec, Canada) and senior forward Samuel Huo (Richmond, British Columbia, Canada).

Saturday night, freshman forward Cameron Briere (Stillwater, Minn.) opened the scoring 1:29 into the second period giving Omaha a 1-0 lead against the Fighting Hawks, while earning his second career goal.

After Omaha lost reigning NCHC Goaltender of the Year Simon Latkoczy (Trenčín, Slovakia) in the opening two minutes on Friday, Dec. 12, freshman goaltender Dawson Cowan (Warren, Manitoba, Canada) came in, making 23 saves followed by a 28-save performance the following night.

Following the weekend, freshman forward Luke Woodworth (Bridgewater, Nova Scotia, Canada) stays atop the leaderboard with 11 points, while Pellerin has 10 with a team-best six goals. Ludtke continues to lead the Mavericks with nine assists.

Omaha and (RV) Augustana met last year from Oct. 18-19 at Baxter Arena on Kemp Ice. The Mavericks fell 2-1 in the series opener followed by a 4-0 defeat the next night. Overall, Omaha and is 2-2 against the Vikings.

(RV) Augustana enter the upcoming matchup following a matchup against then-No. 14 Minnesota State taking the first game of the series 3-1 with a 4-4 tie on Saturday, Dec. 13.

Freshman forward Jacob Jastrzebski leads the Vikings with 14 points (5G, 9A), while Leonid Bulgakov owns a team-best 7 goals.
Omaha Hockey returns home for an exhibition matchup against Manitoba on Dec. 30 at Baxter Arena on Kemp Ice, followed by a trip to Ithaca, N.Y. from Jan. 2-3 at Lynah Rink. Both games against Cornell will stream on ESPN+, with radio coverage available on 1290 KOIL and the Varsity Network.
