(RV) Hockey heads east for weekend series at Yale

OMAHA, Neb. – (RV) Omaha Hockey (5-7-0, 3-5-0 NCHC) makes its way to New Haven, Conn. for a weekend series against Yale (3-4-0, 3-3-0 ECAC) from Nov. 28-29 at Ingalls Rink. The games will be streamed on ESPN+ and fans can listen live on 1290 KOIL or the Varsity Network.
(RV) Omaha, which owns the nation's No. 2 strength of schedule, is coming off its 11th ranked matchup and has collected five ranked victories this season, including a 2-0 road shutout of then-No. 3 Minnesota-Duluth on Nov. 15 at AMSOIL Arena to split the series with the Bulldogs. The win marked the Mavericks' first shutout of the 2025-26 campaign.

In their most recent series, the Mavericks fell to then-No. 8 Western Michigan on Friday, Nov. 21 and Saturday, Nov. 22 on Kemp Ice at Baxter Arena.

To open the weekend, sophomore forward Brett Hyland (Edmonton, Alberta, Canada) scored his second goal of the season in Friday's 7-2 loss to the Broncos. Hyland has recorded a point in each of his last four games, totaling two goals and three assists since Oct. 25 for five points.

Also on Friday, sophomore forward Myles Hilman (Sylvan Lake, Alberta, Canada) netted his third goal of the year.
In net, KJ Branding NCHC Goaltender of the Week (Nov. 4) co-captain and reigning NCHC Goaltender of the Year Simon Latkoczy (Trencin, Slovakia) made his ninth appearance, stopping 36 shots. Latkoczy has made at least 20 saves in all but one outing and holds a 4.02 goals-against average this season, totaling 286 saves through nine games.

On Saturday, (RV) Omaha battled the Broncos in a tight 4-2 loss. After trailing 3-0, senior forward Samuel Huo (Richmond, British Columbia, Canada) put the Mavericks on the board with his first career goal at 16:21 in the second period, assisted by sophomore defenseman Joe Gramer (Moorhead, Minn.) and freshman defenseman Spencer Sova (Tecumseh, Ontario, Canada).

Nine seconds into the third period, senior forward Cameron Mitchell cut the deficit to one, scoring his ninth career goal on a feed from freshman forward Luke Woodworth (Bridgewater, Nova Scotia, Canada) and co-captain senior defenseman Griffin Ludtke (Elko, Minn.).

Freshman goaltender and NCHC Rookie of the Week Dawson Cowan (Warren, Manitoba, Canada) made his third appearance of the season and first at home, finishing with 28 saves and a .903 save percentage. Through three games, he has totaled 96 saves.

Sophomore forward Maxime Pellerin (Victoriaville, Quebec, Canada) continues to lead Omaha with nine points, including a team-high five goals. Woodworth joined him at nine points after recording his sixth assist of the season  Saturday night. Ludtke remains the Mavericks' assist leader with eight.

The Mavericks and Bulldogs have faced each other in six games, last meeting on Dec. 29, 2008, in New Haven, Conn., where Omaha secured an 8-3 victory. Following a three-game skid, Yale defeated Brown on Saturday night 3-1.
This matchup marks the Mavericks first unranked opponent of the season.

Omaha Hockey enters a bye week before returning to the road for an NCHC series at North Dakota from Dec. 12-13 in Grand Forks, N.D. The matchup marks the second series between the teams this season. Both games will stream on NCHC.tv, with radio coverage available on 1290 KOIL and the Varsity Network.
