During its most recent series against No. 13 UMass at Baxter Arena on Kemp Ice, (RV) Omaha upset a top 20 team for the second consecutive weekend.
On Friday, Oct. 24, (RV) Omaha battled tightly with the Minutemen, scoring three straight goals to take the lead before UMass rallied with two in the final nine minutes to win 5-4. The following night, the Mavericks bounced back with a commanding 5-2 victory.
Sophomore forward
Myles Hilman (Sylvan Lake, Alberta, Canada) netted the tie-breaking goal with 11:31 remaining, and (RV) Omaha added two late scored to secure the series split.
The Mavericks totaled nine goals across the weekend from seven different players, including freshman forward
Luke Woodworth (Bridgewater, Nova Scotia, Canada), who scored his first career goal.
Sophomore forward
Maxime Pellerin (Victoriaville, Quebec, Canada) led the charge with four points over two games, highlighted by a two-goal effort in Friday's 5-4 setback before adding a goal and an assist in Saturday's win. Pellerin leads (RV) Omaha with four goals this season.
Junior defenseman de La Gorgendiere (Langley, British Columbia, Canada) was named the KJ Branding National Collegiate Hockey Conference Defenseman of the Week on Tuesday, following a career weekend at Baxter Arena.
de La Gorgendiere was a force on both ends of the ice in the Mavericks' series against No. 13 UMass. On Friday, Oct. 24, he notched one assist, two blocks and a season-high five shots in Omaha's hard-fought 5-4 loss at home.
He followed that performance up on Saturday night, helping lead the Mavericks to a thrilling 5-2 upset over the Minutemen with one goal, two assists and a block.
Over the two-game series, de La Gorgendiere fired off eight shots and set new season- and career-highs with three points in Saturday's victory at Baxter Arena.
Across the first four games of the 2025-26 season, he has tallied two goals, four assists and three blocks.
Senior goaltender and co-captain Simont Latkoczy (Trencin, Slovakia), the reigning National Collegiate Hockey Conference Goaltender of the Year, made 31 saves on Friday before stopping 28 saves in Saturday's win, limiting the Minutemen to just two goals in game two.
Pellerin and de La Gorgendiere pace the Mavericks with six points apiece through the first four games. They are two of 11 Omaha players to find the back of the net this season.

Griffin Ludtke (Elko, Minn.) who have each tallied four assists through the first four games.
Dating back to 2006, and since Feb. 23, 2024, against No. 15 Colorado College, the Mavericks are 5-1-1 in their last seven games against the Tigers. (RV) Omaha and No. 15 Colorado College last faced off on Jan. 11, 2025, at Baxter Arena, where the Mavericks defeated the Tigers 3-1.
No. 15 Colorado College is set to host (RV) Omaha coming off four straight victories to open the 2025-26 season. In its most recent series against Northern Michigan, Colorado College swept the Wildcats with a 2-1 overtime win and a 5-2 victory in game two.
Through the Tigers' first six games of the season, sophomore forward Owen Beckner leads the team with seven points on four goals and three assists.
