OMAHA, Neb. – Omaha women's soccer (4-4-3, 1-0-0 Summit) opened Summit League play with a statement road win, defeating 2024 regular-season champion North Dakota State 1-0 on Sept. 25 at Dacotah Field before battling to a scoreless draw at North Dakota on Sept. 28.
Tim Walters' Mavericks return to action on Thursday, Oct. 2 at Caniglia Field against Oral Roberts with kickoff set for 7 p.m. CT on the Summit League Network. The Mavs hit the road for a second outing this week on Sunday, Oct. 5 at 1 p.m. CT in St. Paul, Minn. against St. Thomas.
The Mavericks sit second in the Summit League table with four points, trailing only Denver, after recording back-to-back shutouts to begin conference play.
In the 53rd minute at NDSU, senior defender
Lindsey Birch (Rochester, Minn.) netted her first goal of the 2025 season to break the deadlock. Freshman defender
Presley Douglass (Elkhorn, Neb.) and sophomore forward
Charley Kort (Lincoln, Neb.) were credited with assists.
Birch also earned a start and played the full 90 minutes against North Dakota. Senior goalkeeper
Charlotte Huggard (Plymouth, Mich.) kept the match level with a critical 38th-minute stop on a breakaway from Avery Toms. Huggard played every minute in both contests, totaling eight saves, and has now appeared in eight matches this season.
Offensively, Kort, junior defender
Emma Hampton (Urbandale, Iowa) and graduate forward
Payten Ivins (West Haven, Utah) share the team lead with three goals apiece. Kort, freshman forward
Kendall Dobberstein (Omaha, Neb.) and junior defender
Grace Bartlam (Rosemount, Minn.) pace the Mavericks with four assists each.
Through 12 fixtures in 2025, 13 different Mavericks have scored.
Omaha will meet Oral Roberts for the 13th time in series history Thursday at Caniglia Field. The Mavericks dropped their last matchup with the Golden Eagles by a 2-0 tally on Nov. 2, 2024.
Oral Roberts enters at 7-3-1 overall and 1-0 in Summit League play. Freshman Genesis Helsley and senior Julia Thasaphong share the team lead with four goals apiece. Thasaphong was recently named to the Top Drawer Soccer Team of the Week and earned Summit League Offensive Peak Performer of the Week honors.
Graduate students Kiran Singh and Haley Nicholas, along with redshirt junior Brianna Castleberry, each have three goals. Castleberry also paces the Golden Eagles with five assists.
Following Thursday's contest, Omaha travels to St. Thomas Sunday. The Mavericks narrowly defeated the Tommies 1-0 in the most recent meeting on Oct. 13, 2024 and are unbeaten in the series since 2021.
St. Thomas, 3-7-1 overall and 0-2-0 in league play, is led by Mackenzie Jacobson, who has three goals and two assists.
Omaha continues its road swing Oct. 12 at South Dakota State. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. CT at Fishback Soccer Park in Brookings, S.D., with coverage on the Summit League Network.
