CEDAR FALLS, Iowa — Omaha women's soccer broke through for its first win of the 2026 season Thursday afternoon, shutting out Northern Iowa 1-0 at the UNI Soccer Field behind a second-half goal from
Kendall Dobberstein.
The Mavericks improved to 1-1 on the season with the road victory, while UNI fell to 0-3.
Omaha and Northern Iowa went toe-to-toe through the opening 45 minutes, with both defenses standing strong to send the match into halftime scoreless.
The Mavericks didn't have to wait long after the break to find the difference-maker. Dobberstein, a 2026 Summit League Player to Watch, delivered in the 56th minute, finding the back of the net for Omaha's first goal of the season and the fifth of her career.
From there, the Mavericks slammed the door. Omaha's defense kept the Panthers off the board for the remainder of the match to secure its first win and shutout of the season.
The victory marked Omaha's second consecutive win over Northern Iowa after the Mavericks earned a 2-1 victory in the teams' previous meeting in 2024.
Omaha continues its road swing Sunday, Aug. 23, against Green Bay. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. CT at Festival Foods Field at Aldo Santaga Stadium.
