Mavs can't overcome first half shooting woes at ORU

TULSA, Okl. - The Mavericks were unable to slow the Summit League's highest scoring offense, losing 95-57 to Oral Roberts University in Tulsa. It was ORU's fourth straight win and Omaha's seventh consecutive loss. The Mavericks play next Saturday at 2:00 p.m. CT against league-leader South Dakota State at Baxter Arena.

After shooting just 29% from the field in the opening half, the Mavericks (9-12, 1-7) opened strongly in the second half, outscoring the Golden Eagles (16-5, 6-2) 25-22 in the third quarter. Sophomore Alana Powell led the Mavericks with a career-high 17 points. Senior Grace Cave had 7 points, 4 rebounds and 1 assist while freshman Harriet Ford delivered 7 points, 8 rebounds and 2 assists. Freshman Daria Shelby chipped in a career-high 8 points on 4-4 shooting. 

ORU shot 51.4% from the field, led by Jalei Oglesby's 26 points on 13-18 shooting. Taleyah Jones added 24 points. 

After the Mavericks host the Jackrabbits Saturday, they travel to St. Thomas and Kansas City next week. Tickets for all Omaha home games are available at OMavs.com/tix.
