LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Two Omaha softball players earned NFCA Central All-Region accolades, as announced by the organization Thursday afternoon.
Kamryn Meyer earned second-team honors, while
Lynsey Tucker tabbed third-team.
For Meyer, this is her third consecutive All-Region honors and second second-team honors. This marks Tucker's first All-Region honors.
This is only the second time in the Division I era Omaha has had more than one All-Region selection in a season.
The awards honor softball student-athletes from the Association's 10 regions with first, second and third-team selections. NFCA member head coaches from each respective region nominated student-athletes and voted for the teams. All awarded student-athletes now become eligible for the 2024 NFCA Division I All-America squads.
Meyer adds Central All-Region Second Team honors to her name. The ace was tabbed as the Summit League Pitcher of the Year, Tournament MVP, and made the First Team All-Summit earlier this month. The Queen of Ks threw another statistical masterpiece this season on the mound. Meyer led her squad to a 9-0 mark in the circle in league action, the lone pitcher to have an undefeated record. In 65.1 innings of work, Meyer struck out the second most batters in league play (75) and tallied a 0.63 ERA while giving up six earned runs.
The Wilton, Iowa native tallied six complete-game outings in league action, earned a league-best 1.71 ERA (45th in the nation) among all games, recorded an opponent batting average of .153 in league competition, and recorded a pair of saves in league play. Meyer's 22-3 ledger is tied for the ninth best in all of Division I and her four saves top the league charts. Her 196 strikeouts rank first in the league and tied for 12th in all of Division I, while her 155.2 innings pitched sits second overall.
Meyer earned Tournament MVP for the second straight year for her 34 innings of work where she recorded a 0.82 ERA. The ace went 3-1 with two complete game shutouts during the tournament. The Queen of Ks threw 34 strikeouts, including a career-high 21 against Kansas City. In the record-breaking 14-inning game, Meyer threw all 14 innings against the Roos. That game was logged as the longest Summit League tournament game, surpassing the 12-inning record. At 17 strikeouts, Meyer had retired the most batters in a tournament game. At 19 that game, she hit 995 career Ks, making her the all-time Summit League strikeout leader. During the first game against SDSU, in the second inning, Meyer had thrown her 1000th career strikeout.
The graduate senior earned two Summit League Athlete of the Month honors and was recognized four Summit League Pitcher of the Week.
Tucker was named to the Central All-Region Third Team after earning Summit League Defensive Player of the Year, All-Summit First-Team, and made the All-Tournament Team. The fifth-year second basemen made only four errors in 188 attempts for a .979 fielding percentage. The Lincoln, Neb., native also tallied a .984 fielding percentage in league competition. The leadoff hitter has recorded a .353 batting average and .526 slugging percentage off 61 hits including nine doubles, three triples, five home runs, and 33 RBIs. Tucker has stolen eight bases and recorded 43 runs. Her .472 on-base percentage ranks her first in the Summit and 102nd nationally.
