Softball hits the road to face St. Thomas

OMAHA, Neb. –– Omaha Softball (24-7, 6-0 Summit) hits the road after last playing March 29 to face St. Thomas (24-10, 5-1 Summit) in a three-game Summit League series beginning Friday, April 10. First pitch is set for 3 p.m. CT on Friday, 1 p.m. on Saturday and noon on Sunday. All three games will air on the Summit League Network.

The Mavericks take their eight game win streak to St. Thomas. Omaha is 7-4 all-time against St. Thomas, including 4-2 on the road.

Omaha has been ranked in each of the first nine D1Softball.com Mid-Major rankings this season, including at the No. 1 spot, the highest ranking in program history. After starting off the season 11-0, the best start in DI program history and third best in all-time program history (2002 team began 20-0), Omaha received votes in the NFCA Coaches Poll for the seventh time in DI program history. Omaha is currently ranked third in the D1Softball Mid-Major Poll (week nine) and third in the Softball America Mid-Major Rankings (week 10).

After her last outing, Alexis Wiggins was named the Kwik Star Summit League Peak Pitcher of the Week for the first time in her career, after tossing eight shutout innings for the Mavericks in two appearances (2-0). Wiggins allowed just three eights in 28 batters faced with four strikeouts.

Omaha closes out the regular-season home slate with a three-game set against South Dakota State beginning April 17, followed by the regular-season home finale against Nebraska on Tuesday, April 21 at 6 p.m. CT. Tickets are on-sale now at OMavs.com/Tickets.
