NEWTON, Kan. – The Omaha men's golf team finished in ninth place at the Summit League Championships on Tuesday.

The Mavericks shot a final round team score of 289, their second best this season, to finish at 903 for the 54-hole tournament.  South Dakota State repeated as Summit champions with a score of 877.  Oral Roberts was second at 879, and South Dakota took third at 881.

Senior Ben Maskus led the Mavericks in scoring for the championship with a score of 218, the third-best 54-hole score of his career.  He closed with an even-par round of 72 to finish eighth in the field of 45 golfers.

Sophomore Kevin Gordon shot the low round of the day, a three-under card of 69, that gave him a total of 223 for the tournament.  He was second for the Mavericks and tied for 18th overall.  Gordon was one under par for the opening nine, registering two pars and one bogey, and he picked up birdies on both par-5s on the inward nine.

Senior Mitch Ryan also closed the tournament with an even-par 72 to finish at 226.  He birdied the par-4 18th hole, the last of his college career.  Ryan tied for 27th at the event.

Freshman Kelly Brown was fourth for the Mavericks and tied for 40th overall with a score of 236 that included a final round of 76.

David Huxham finished the scoring for UNO with a total of 241 that featured a final round of 79.
