SPRING, Texas – The Omaha men's golf team took 13th place at The Colin Montgomerie at Houston Baptist on Tuesday, their first tournament of the spring season.
The Mavericks shot a team round of 307 to finish the 54-hole tournament at 928. Louisiana Monroe won the event with a score of 870. Central Arkansas was second at 874, and Stephen F. Austin finished one stroke back in third.
Kevin Gordon led UNO in scoring with a three-round total of 227 that included a round of 76 on Tuesday. He finished in a tie for 48.
Ben Maskus was second on the team and tied for 55th overall at 228. He also carded a 76 in the final round.
Mitch Ryan also shot 76 to finish at 232 for the tournament, putting him in a tie for 64th. Kelly Brown shot 79 in round three to close the tournament at 241, good for 81st place.
Sam Musch completed the scoring for UNO with a round of 84 that put him at 256 for the tournament.
The Mavericks return to action on Monday and Tuesday, March 6-7 at the Sacramento State Invitational.
