NEBRASKA CITY, Neb. – The Omaha men's golf team is in seventh place after the first day of play at the UNO Invitational at ArborLinks.
The Mavericks fired a 36-hole score of 603 on day one after team rounds of 300 and 303. North Dakota State leads the event with a total of 583. Northern Iowa is second at 587, and South Dakota is third at 591.
Kevin Gordon led the Mavericks on day one and sits in a tie for ninth with a total of 147 that included rounds of 78 and 69.
Ben Maskus was second for UNO and tied for 13th with a total of 148. He shot 75 in round one and 73 in round two.
Mitch Ryan sits third for UNO and in a tie for 22nd with a line of 71-80-151. Freshman
Kelly Brown shot 76 and 81 for a total of 157 that had him in a tie for 36th.
Another freshman,
Max Hellstrom, rounded out the scoring for UNO with a total of 166 that featured rounds of 84 and 82, putting him in a tie for 43rd.
Sam Musch, playing as an individual, also shot 166 (84-82).
The final round begins at 8:30 a.m. on Sunday following the completion of the women's second round. Play was suspended due to darkness with three groups still on the course.
