Omaha Faces Northern Colorado on Tuesday

OMAHA, Neb. - The Omaha softball team continues its Colorado string of games with a doubleheader in Greeley, Colo. The Mavs will take on Northern Colorado on March 8 with first pitch set for 2 p.m. (CT).

The 2016 Mavericks

Omaha is 6-13 on the season after a 0-4 weekend at the Colorado State Classic in Fort Collins, Colo.  The Mavericks fell to Idaho State (4-2 and 9-1) and to host Colorado State (11-3 and 10-6).

This season, Sydney Hames leads the team at the plate with a .361 batting average and is second in the Summit League with five home runs and 16 RBI. Nicole Warren has a .306 average this season and leads the Summit League with six home runs and 20 RBI.

Freshman Laura Roecker has 11 starts this season to lead the team.  Roecker holds a 3-6 mark with a 7.00 ERA with 27 strikeouts and 41 walks. Roecker has gone the distance three times and thrown two shutouts.  Abbie Clanton leads the team with 15 appearances (two starts).  Clanton is 2-4 on the season with a 6.40 ERA with 20 strikeouts. Lizzie Noble is 1-3 this season in nine appearances (six starts).

Scouting the Northern Colorado Bears

Northern Colorado is 3-11 on the season after being swept at New Mexico in three games in Albuquerque, N.M. The Bears fell to the Lobos by scores of 7-3, 8-3 and 10-1.

Erica Dick leads the Bears with a .385 batting average and eight RBI. Lauren Paige is hitting .308 and six RBI and leads the team with three homers.

Kelli Kleis leads the Northern Colorado pitching staff with a 3.91 ERA, with a 0-2record in 6 appearances. Jayme Reddacliff has made nine appearance (six starts) with a 4.40 ERA. Reddacliff leads the team with a 3-4 record and 28 strikeouts.

Shana Easley enters her fourth season leading the Bears program. Last season, Northern Colorado finished with a 16-25-1 overall record and was 9-10 in Big Sky play.

Series History

Prior to this week, the two team have met 19 times.  The Mavericks hold a 15-4 series lead, including a 2-0 record since Omaha made the transition to Division 1.

Up Next

The Mavericks travel to the University of Kansas Tournament in Lawrence. UNO will play Northern Iowa on Friday, Mar. 11 at 9 a.m. (CT), before taking on Missouri State at 4:30 p.m. (CT). Omaha's lone game on Saturday, Mar. 12 will be a rematch against Missouri State at 4:30 p.m. (CT). To wrap of tournament play the Mavs will take on host Kansas on Sunday, Mar. 13 at 2 p.m. (CT) before taking on UMKC at 4:30 p.m. (CT).

Last Time Out: Colorado State Classic

The Omaha softball team competed in the Colorado State Classic in Fort Collins, Colo. and finished with a record of 0-4. The Mavericks fell to Idaho State (4-2 and 9-1) and to host Colorado State (11-3 and 10-6).

Junior pitcher Abbie Clanton went 0-1 with a 4.89 ERA seven strikeouts this weekend. Clanton appeared in all four games over the weekend and struck out a career high four batters at Colorado State on Mar. 6.

At the plate, Sydney Hames led the Mavs with a .364 batting average with one home run and three RBI. Hames hit her fifth homer of the season at Colorado State on Mar. 5. Nicole Warren contributed a .308 batting average with one home run, two RBI, and four runs scored on the weekend. Warren hit her Summit League leading sixth home run against Idaho State on March 5.
