Box Score DENVER, Colo. – Tanner Jaillet made 26 saves as No. 7 Denver shutout the No. 15 Omaha hockey team, 3-0, on Friday at Magness Arena.
The loss, UNO's season-high fifth straight, drops the Mavericks to 18-14-1 overall and 8-14-1-0/0 in the NCHC. UNO is now locked into sixth place in the standings following a win by Minnesota Duluth over Miami on Friday. The Mavericks will play either St. Cloud State or Denver in the first round of the playoffs pending the results of the final night of the regular season on Saturday.
Denver opened the scoring when Grant Arnold took advantage of a netmouth scramble to fire home his fifth of the year at 12:44.
The Pioneers expanded their lead in the second period when Will Butcher scored a powerplay goal at 6:42, and Dylan Gambrell added an even-strength tally at 8:40.
Evan Weninger made a game-high 31 saves but dropped to 13-7-0 with the loss.
It is the second time this season Denver, with Jaillet in goal, has shutout the Mavericks, both by 3-0 scores.
