Box Score EMERSON, Ga. -- The Omaha baseball team concluded its first weekend of play Sunday afternoon, falling 8-1 to Eastern Michigan at the Perfect Game Complex. The Mavericks are now 2-2 (0-0 Summit League), while the Eagles improve to 3-1 (0-0 MAC).
The win went to EMU starter Austin Wilson (1-0), who allowed three hits and one walk over 4.0 scoreless innings while striking out three. Junior right-hander
Shane Meltz (0-1) took the loss, giving up four runs on four hits and four walks in 2.1 innings of work.

Josh Scribner tallied the Mavericks' only multi-hit effort at the plate, finishing 2-for-3. Senior

Eastern got on the board in the bottom of the first inning, plating four runs on three hits. Marquise Gill led off with an infield single, stole third, advanced on a flyout before coming in on John Montgomery's RBI single to right. Brennan Williams, who got on with a walk, then scored on Mike Mioduszewski's sacrifice fly to right. Jackson Martin promptly mustered a two-run home run to left, giving the Eagles a 4-0 lead.
EMU added another run in the fifth when Mioduszewski drove in Montgomery with an RBI single to right center. The Eagles also took advantage of a UNO error in the sixth, with Luke DeVenney scoring unearned on Mitchell McGeein's sacrifice fly to left to make it 6-0.
In the seventh, Scribner placed a two-out single in left field, and senior
Alex Schultz followed with a double to right to put both runners in scoring position. Gruber then drew a walk to load the bases, and an RBI single by Taylor drove in Holt to trim the Eagles' lead to 6-1.
Eastern Michigan finished its scoring in the eighth with a pair of runs on three hits. David Lett crossed on a wild pitch, and Williams scored via McGeein's RBI single to left, extending the Eagle lead to 8-1, which ultimately held as the final score.
Omaha returns to action next weekend with another trip to Perfect Game Complex in Emerson, Ga. The Mavericks open their four-game weekend on Friday, Feb. 26, facing Saint Louis at 2 p.m. (CT).
