Box Score OMAHA, Neb. – Third-ranked St. Cloud State finished off a weekend sweep of the No. 11/12 Omaha hockey team, winning 6-3 on Saturday night at Baxter Arena.
The Mavericks fell to 18-11-1 overall and 8-11-1-0/0 in the NCHC. With both Miami and Minnesota Duluth losing as well, the three teams remain tied for fourth place in the conference. St. Cloud State improved to 25-6-1 overall and 15-4-1-1/0 in the NCHC and kept pace with North Dakota which also won. The two teams are tied for first.
Trailing 3-0 late in the second, the Mavericks finally got on the board 44 seconds after SCSU's Ethan Prow had scored a powerplay goal.

Then with the clock winking down,
Fredrik Olofsson carried down the left wing and flipped a pass to
Jake Guentzel. In two strides, Guentzel got around the St. Cloud State defenseman and one-timed the puck past goaltender Charlie Lindgren with .4 seconds remaining in the period to draw the Mavericks to within one.
St. Cloud State restored the two goal lead when Blake Winiecki scored his second of the game at 8:07 of the third.
The Mavericks answered when Guentzel's shot hit the post and accidentally was batted into the SCSU net by defenseman Nathan Widman at 10:26.
But Kalle Kossila slipped home his 12th of the season at 16:31 to make it 5-3 SCSU, and Judd Peterson added a shorthanded, empty net goal at 18:52 to finish the scoring.
Evan Weninger suffered the loss, making 21 saves in the game. Lindgren made 29 saves to pick up the win.
Guentzel's two-goal night gives him 40 points this season, a new career high for points.
Luc Snuggerud had pair of assists, giving him 16 points this year to tie his career high.
The Mavericks finish their six-game home stand by hosting North Dakota on Friday and Saturday, Feb. 26-27.
