Box Score MARQUETTE, Mich. – Evan Weninger stopped 31 shots to earn his second career shutout as the Omaha hockey team blanked Northern Michigan, 2-0, on Saturday night at the Berry Events Center.

Jake Randolph had a goal and an assist as the Mavericks snapped a three-game winless streak to improve to 7-5-2 overall.  Northern Michigan dropped to 3-11-2.

The Mavericks broke open a scoreless game with two goals in a span of 14 seconds in the second period.  First, Tyler Vesel carried the puck down the left wing and just before slipping in behind the Northern Michigan net, he fed the puck in front to Jake Randolph who buried his second goal of the year.

Then at 8:09, Randolph knocked down a pass in the Wildcats' end, directing it into the slot.  Justin Parizek pounced on it and fired the puck past goalie Atte Tolvanen before he could react.

Weninger was busiest in the third period as the Wildcats fired 19 shots in an attempt to get on the board.  He made several stops in close to pick up UNO's first shutout of the season.

The Mavericks were 0-for-4 on the power play, the first time they've been held without a power play goal this season.  They also stopped all three Northern Michigan power plays, blanking the Wildcats for the weekend after a 4-for-4 night on Friday.  It was the first time they've held a team without a power play goal in consecutive games.

The Mavericks continue their six-game road trip at Wisconsin on Friday and Saturday, Dec. 2-3.
