RAYMORE, Mo. – The Omaha men's golf team took 12th place at the Bill Ross Intercollegiate on Tuesday.
The Mavericks shot a final round team score of 306 to finish at 923 for the 54-hole event. Grand Canyon won with a total of 868, edging runner up Kansas State by one stroke. Host UMKC finished third at 872.
Kevin Gordon closed with a round of 73 at the Creekmoor Golf Club to finish in a tie for 28th overall at 223. It was the third time he has led the Mavericks in a tournament this fall.
Ben Maskus was second on the team and in a tie for 56th with a score of 232 that included a third-round tally of 77.
Kelly Brown was one stroke behind at 233 after shooting 83 in the final round. He was tied for 58th.
Max Hellstrom tied for 67th with a score of 237. He shot a round of 75 to close the tournament.
Sam Musch concluded the scoring for the Mavericks with a final round of 81 that gave him a total of 245.
The Mavericks will have two weeks off before finishing the fall season at the ODU/Outerbanks Intercollegiate on Oct. 23-25 in Powells Point, N.C.
