Box Score OMAHA, Neb. – No. 5 UMass Lowell broke a tie game with a late goal in the third period and held on for a 4-2 over the Omaha hockey team to earn a split of the weekend series.
John Edwardh lifted home a pass from Joe Gambardella with 4:18 remaining in the third to put the River Hawks up 3-2 in a hard-fought game between non-conference foes. Gambardella then added an empty net goal with seven seconds remaining to close the scoring.
It was a sour ending to a well-played game and series for the Mavericks who won 5-1 in the opener on Friday. The Mavericks are now 3-2-1 while UMass Lowell improved to 4-2-2.

The Mavericks tied the game on their own power play halfway through the period.

The River Hawks retook the lead at 2:41 of the second period when Jake Kamrass scored on a penalty shot, the first faced by a UNO goaltender since November of 2013.
The Mavericks took advantage of a five-on-three power play to retie the game late in the period.

Weninger finished with 22 saves while Wall made 25 stops.
The Mavericks finish their six-game home stand with their first NCHC series of the season. They'll host Colorado College on Friday and Saturday, Nov. 4-5.
