Box Score OMAHA, Neb. – Miami scored six goals in the second period and cruised to a 7-3 win over the No. 7 Omaha hockey team on Saturday night at Baxter Arena.
The loss, UNO's fourth straight at home and third straight overall, dropped it to 15-8-1 overall and 5-8-1-0/0 in the NCHC. Miami won its third straight to improve to 9-11-3 overall and 4-8-2-2/0 in the conference, tying it with UNO for fifth.
Checking forward Connor Lemirande had his first career hat trick, and Sean Kuraly had a goal and three assists to lead the Miami attack. Zach LaValle (1-2-3) and Kevin Morris (1-1-2) also had multiple-point nights.

Mason Morelli was overshadowed in the loss. He finished the game with two goals while linemate
Ryan Galt had two assists.
Lemirande had given Miami a 1-0 lead late in the first period, and the RedHawks put up two more early in the second when Morris scored 42 seconds in and Kuraly notched one at 3:12.
Morelli's first goal came at 8:06 when he batted home the rebound of a shot by Galt.
But just 1:36 later, Lemirande got his second and then finished the hat trick at 13:02. Anthony Louis and LaValle then scored 55 seconds apart late in the period to make it 7-1.
Ian Brady got one back with a blast from the point that eluded goalie Jay Williams at 18:09, and Morelli's second at 4:06 of the third came when he tipped in a shot by Brady for his first career two-goal game.
Miami won the season series, 2-1-1-1/0 and scored more goals against the Mavericks than any opponent this season.
Kirk Thompson stopped 20 shots in the loss while Williams had 27 saves as UNO outshot Miami, 30-27.
The Mavericks are back on the road next weekend, visiting Colorado College on Friday and Saturday, Jan. 29-30.
