DES MOINES, Iowa –
Ashley Kildow broke the school record in the 5,000 meters, the highlight of the first day of competition for the Omaha track & field team at the Jim Duncan Invitational on Friday at Drake.
Kildow's time of 17:00.19 earned her first place and was almost 21 seconds faster than the previous record set by Amanda Vorthmann in 2013.
In other running events,
Kristin Rogers took third in the 10,000 meters in a time of 38:38.66.
Karo Garcia came in fifth with a time of 39:12.11 while
Perla Gutierrez was right behind in sixth with a time of 39:34.96.
Megan Adams threw a season best mark of 124-08 in the discus, good for third place.
In the long jump,
Noni Henderson jumped a personal best 18-03 ¼ for third place.
Nicole Liske came in eighth place with a mark of 16-10.
The Mavericks will compete in the second day of the Jim Duncan Invitational on Saturday. Events are set to begin at 8:30 a.m. and live results will be available on godrakebulldogs.com.
