Box Score DULUTH, Minn. – For the second time in as many nights, the No. 8 Omaha hockey team pulled off a come-from-behind 1-1 tie at No. 6 Minnesota Duluth before winning a shootout.

The Bulldogs had taken a 1-0 lead late in the second period on a goal by Justin Crandall, but the Mavericks responded early in the third.  James Polk won a face-off back to Brian O'Rourke.  His shot from the right point beat UMD goalie Kasimir Kaskisuo who was screened on the play.  The goal, at 6:50, was his first of the year.

The Mavericks had several chances at a win in overtime, outshooting the Bulldogs, 5-2.

In the shootout, UMD's Dominic Toninato scored on the first attempt against Ryan Massa, but UNO's Jake Randolph replied with his second shootout goal of the weekend.  Then after Massa stopped UMD's next two shooters, Austin Ortega delivered the deciding goal for the second straight night.

The Mavericks return home with four standings points after the two shootout wins and are now 17-10-5 overall and 11-8-3-3 in the NCHC, good for third place.  The Bulldogs are 19-12-3 overall and 11-8-3-0.

UNO improved to 3-0 in shootouts this season.

The Mavericks close the regular season on Friday and Saturday, March 6-7 when they host Colorado College.
