Blais Announces Signing of Six Recruits

OMAHA, Neb. – Omaha hockey head coach Dean Blais announced the signing of six student-athletes to National Letters of Intent on Monday.

“This is yet another outstanding recruiting class with players who will be able to contribute very quickly,” said Blais.  “As always, we look for players who can play with the kind of speed and skill it takes to win in the NCHC, and these players will complement our current players very well.”

Five of the six players are American including one native of Omaha.  Four are forwards and two are defensemen.  Five of the six players are currently playing in the United States Hockey League while the other is playing in the Minnesota high school ranks.
 
The following is a list of the new incoming players sorted alphabetically by position:

Forward
Zach Court – Cedar Rapids (USHL)
Height:  5-9; Weight:  169; Hometown:  Winnipeg, Manitoba; DOB:  Jan. 4, 1997
Court is currently playing in his first season in the USHL with Cedar Rapids and has picked up two goals and five assists for seven points and 10 penalty minutes in 16 games.

Ryan Galt – Bloomington (USHL)
Height:  5-10; Weight:  168; Hometown:  Omaha, Neb.; DOB:  Aug. 15, 1995
Galt, an Omaha native, is playing this season for Bloomington in the USHL where he is second in team scoring with five goals and eight assists for 13 points in 21 games.  He also has eight penalty minutes.  Prior to this season, Galt spent the last two seasons with the Des Moines Buccaneers of the USHL where he totaled 27 goals and 33 assists for 60 points and 82 penalty minutes in 116 games.

Mason Morelli – Fargo (USHL)
Height:  6-0; Weight:  194; Hometown:  Minot, N.D.; DOB:  Feb. 1, 1996
Morelli is in his second season with his home-state Fargo Force.  He's scored five goals and added five assists for 10 points in 19 games while also earning four penalty minutes.  Last season, he had six goals and nine assists for 15 points in 57 games with the Force.  

Fredrik Olofsson – Chicago (USHL)
Height:  6-2; Weight:  204; Hometown:  Broomfield, Colo.; DOB:  May 27, 1996
Olofsson is currently second in scoring for Chicago of the USHL, tallying eight goals and 11 assists for 19 points in 19 games.  He also has earned four penalty minutes.  He split the previous season between Chicago and Green Bay where he combined for six goals and 15 assists for 21 points and 45 penalty minutes in 52 games.  He was chosen in the fourth round, 98th overall, by the Chicago Blackhawks in the 2014 NHL Entry Draft.

Defense
Phil Beaulieu – Waterloo (USHL)
Height:  5-10; Weight:  194; Hometown:  Duluth, Minn.; DOB:  Sept. 2, 1995
Beaulieu has played in 19 games this season with Waterloo of the USHL, scoring two goals and seven assists for nine points.  He also has 23 penalty minutes.  He has played in 45 career USHL games with Waterloo and Fargo, scoring two goals and 18 assists for 20 points.  He played two seasons of high school hockey with current Maverick Jake Randolph at Duluth East High School.  While at Duluth East, Beaulieu tied for the team lead in scoring as a senior with 17 goals and 21 assists for 38 points in 25 regular season games.  He had another two goals and four assists for six points in six postseason games.

Jack McNeely – Lakeville North HS
Height:  6-3; Weight:  181; Hometown:  Lakeville, Minn.; DOB:  Dec. 18, 1996
McNeely just began his senior season with Lakeville North High School, playing in one game and earning two assists.  Last season, he played in 31 regular season and postseason games for the Panthers, tallying four goals and 26 assists for 30 points.  He also had 26 penalty minutes.  He has played in 85 career high school games, totaling nine goals and 33 assists for 42 points to go along with 76 penalty minutes.

The Mavericks return to action against No. 4/5 Miami on Friday and Saturday, Dec. 5-6 at Oxford, Ohio.  Streaming video is available both nights at NCHC.tv while Friday's game will be carried nationally on Fox College Sports.  Both games also can be heard on 1180 Zone 2.
