Box Score VERMILLION, South Dakota – Sophomore goalkeeper Haley Shelton recorded four saves in the Mavericks scoreless tie with USD on Friday afternoon at the USD Soccer Complex. The shut-out was the first of Shelton's college career.
The result moves Omaha to 2-8-1 overall and 0-0-1 in Summit League play. South Dakota is now 7-4-1 overall and 0-0-1 in conference.
Omaha had a 10-6 edge in shots on goal in game. Hannah Wampler had three shots on goal to lead Omaha. Anna Sibson had two shots on goal.
Omaha's Marquette Pick had the best scoring chance for the Mavericks in the 98th minute. Pick headed a shot that forced USD goalkeeper Mackenzie Viktor to knock the ball out of bounds to prevent a goal. USD had their own chance for a game winner in the 100th minute. The Coyotes' Taylor Nivala took a shot that bounced off the crossbar and went out of bounds.
The Mavericks remain on the road for conference play. Omaha travels to Denver, Colo. for a match-up against the University of Denver. Kick-off is set for 12:00 p.m. at CIBER Field on Denver's campus.
