Box Score OMAHA, Neb. - The Omaha women's soccer team fought to a 1-1 draw with Missouri State on Sunday at the UNO Soccer Field in the final non-conference game of the season for UNO.
The Mavericks moved to 2-5-2 with their second tie in a row at home. Missouri State moved to 3-7-1 on the season.
After a physical first half that saw few quality scoring chances, Missouri State cracked the scoreboard first in the 66th minute. Molly Huber was in on goal but Meaghan Clark made a great play to stop her chance. However, the rebound bounced out to Michelle Mayne-Nicholls, and she placed a shot just inside the left post from 15 yards out for a 1-0 lead.
But, going into the wind, the Mavericks had a quick answer. Monica Bosiljevac collected the ball in the center of the pitch 30 yards from goal and fired a shot over the keeper's hands to tie the game 1-1 in the 69th minute. It was Bosiljevac's third goal of the season and second in as many games.
The Mavs were unlucky not to take the lead in the 77th minute. Chelsi Rohloff advanced down the right side, cut back and forced a diving save by Evan Stamp. The ball bounced off the left post and rolled across the goal line before Stamp picked it up. Just a minute later, Nyoke Dumba put a cross into the box, and Layla Ashouri's volley went just wide of the right post.
In overtime, the Bears outshot the Mavs 4-1, but Clark saved both attempts on goal to lift the Mavs.
MSU outshot UNO 17-11 overall and 7-6 in shots on goal. Clark finished with six saves.
The Mavericks are off until Oct. 4, when they host South Dakota to begin Summit League play.
