DES MOINES, Iowa – The Omaha women's tennis team played its first matches outside of Omaha on Saturday, falling 7-0 to Northern Illinois and 7-0 to Central Arkansas at Knapp Tennis Center.
In the first match of the day against NIU, the Huskies took the doubles point and all six singles matches. Freshman Molly Matricardi kept her match close at the No. 2 spot, ultimately falling by a score of 3-6, 6-3, 10-7.
The nightcap against Central Arkansas saw CAU win the doubles point and each singles matchup. Freshman Tiffany Hottman put up a fight in the No. 6 contest, but Stephanie Gonzalez Valero came away with the win at 6-4, 4-6, 7-6.
Omaha returns to action on Sunday, March 3, facing Drake. The match is set to start at 1:30 p.m. at Knapp Tennis Center in Des Moines, Iowa.
