OMAHA, Neb. – The Omaha women's tennis team picked up its second straight win on Friday night, defeating North Dakota, 4-3, at Hanscom Brandeis Tennis Center. With the victory, the Mavericks improve to 2-0 (0-0 Summit League) on the season, while UND drops to 1-7.

The Mavericks opened the night by seizing the doubles point, winning two of the three matches. Freshmen Tiffany Hottman and Molly Matricardi beat Sarah Stejskal and Shaylin Prout, 8-1, at the No. 2 spot. UNO's sister duo, freshman Emily Pierson and sophomore Rachel Pierson, teamed up at No. 3 to defeat Callie Ronkowski and Megan Sweet, 8-5. The Mavs' only loss came at No. 1, when UND's Stephanie Petsis and Stephanie Biehn defeated sophomores Alex Tran and Jacqueline Baude, 8-3.

In singles play, Omaha needed just three wins to capture the match, as Matricardi (No. 2), Emily Pierson (No. 4) and Baude (No. 5) sealed it for the Mavs. Matricardi topped Ronkowski, 6-4, 6-2, followed by Pierson's 6-0, 6-1 win over Stejskal. Baude rounded out UNO's showing with a victory over Sween, 7-6, 6-2.

Omaha returns to action on Wednesday, Feb. 20, hosting Arkansas-Little Rock. The match is set for a Noon start at Hanscom Brandeis Tennis Center.
